Parry Sound–Muskoka is my home, but I was born in Edmonton to a father who immigrated to Canada with very little in his pocket and a mother who was a journalist from Winnipeg. Together, they built a small construction business. They worked long hours, struggling through tough times, and doing whatever it took to put food on the table. From them and my Hockey Hall of Fame grandfather, I learned the meaning of ‘elbows up’: standing strong, pushing forward, and never backing down.
At 13, I got my first job cleaning toilets, which taught me the value of hard work and humility. While in university, I became the youngest hospital chaplain, working in pediatrics and supporting families in crisis. Sitting with parents as they faced unimaginable heartbreak gave me a deep understanding of what it means to listen, support, and lead with empathy.
I worked my way through school, earning an MA in Int. Business and Management, and built a successful career in film and television—writing, directing, and producing award-winning films and series that created jobs and generated millions in economic activity. Before starting my own business, I worked my way up from the bottom to become an executive at a media company—growing the business from five to 60 employees while overseeing hit series for Discovery. My work has taken me around the world, from the UK, where I worked at the BBC, to major international film festivals.
I know what it’s like to work 18-hour days trying to build a better future for your family. I also know what it’s like to fail, get knocked down, and have to start over again. I’ve built businesses, created jobs, and faced the same challenges as everyday Canadians—rising costs, tough financial choices, and the uncertainty of what’s ahead.
My wife of 25 years, Olga, and I are raising our son, Eli, in Huntsville. I serve on the parent school council, support local initiatives like Huntsville’s Got Talent, a fundraiser for Community Living, and last year, I became a volunteer firefighter in Huntsville, earning my Level 2 certification. I now serve on the Firefighters’ Association, helping shape leadership and teamwork initiatives. The experience has been humbling and rewarding, reinforcing my belief in service and community.
The most important role I’ve had is being a stay-at-home dad. Raising my son has given me a deep appreciation for the challenges families face—balancing work, rising costs, and wanting a strong future for our children. Like many parents in Parry Sound–Muskoka, I worry about my son’s future in today’s world. That’s why I’m stepping forward—to fight for hardworking families and ensure our kids can achieve their dreams without leaving. Strong families build strong communities, and I want to make sure our region remains a place where families can afford to live, work, and thrive.
Canada was built by people who dreamed big, worked hard, and stood by their communities. Now, more than ever, we need leaders who put people first, listen, and get things done.
Leadership starts with understanding, and I’m ready to work with you to strengthen our economy, grow our communities, and build a country that leads with courage.
